Why timing matters with a single tooth.
Once a tooth is gone, the bone that held it starts to shrink, and the most change happens in the first months. Teeth next to the gap can drift and tip.
None of this is an emergency. It means an implant is often simpler when it is planned early, ideally before or right when the tooth comes out. If the tooth is still there, we can plan the extraction with the implant in mind.

Angela had been afraid of the dentist for 60 years.
At 70 she needed a tooth removed and replaced. Her own dentist sent her to Dr. Alkanan. She had sedation, and she tells the rest in her own words.
Angela is a real patient and gave permission to share her story. Every mouth is different, and your plan is based on your own scan and exam.

Questions people ask before booking.
Why see a periodontist instead of my regular dentist?
Periodontists spend three extra years training in the gums and bone that hold teeth and implants. Your dentist stays involved and makes your crown.
How long does the whole process take?
Placing the implant is usually a short visit. Healing takes a few months before your dentist fits the crown. If grafting is needed first, it takes longer, and your plan will show the timeline.
Can the implant go in the same day the tooth comes out?
Sometimes. It depends on the bone and any infection. The 3D scan tells us whether that is an option for you.
Am I too nervous for this?
Many of our patients were. Dr. Alkanan provides IV sedation himself, and most people remember very little of the visit.
